Profile
Thomas works closely with startups, venture funds, and founders on complex financing structures and early-stage investment strategies. He specialises in the regulatory frameworks shaping decentralised ecosystems, drawing on his extensive experience with the legal challenges and opportunities in this rapidly evolving space. With a background spanning top-tier international law and venture capital, Thomas helps clients navigate the intricate legal and strategic complexities of building in a dynamic and high-stakes regulatory environment.
Before joining Gosai Law, Thomas practised at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, where he advised some of the world’s leading private equity funds and multinational corporations on cross-border transactions. His experience covers fund formation, capital markets, and both public and private M&A. Notable matters include advising TPG on its US$15 billion flagship buyout fund and the Artemis Group on its US$7 billion acquisition of Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
A long-time participant in the crypto ecosystem, Thomas draws on deep, hands-on experience as a former research analyst at a digital asset-focused venture fund and as an early crypto user since 2017. He brings a unique blend of legal expertise, investment insight, and lived experience across multiple market cycles. His practice focuses on decentralised technologies, censorship-resistant assets, and tokenised financial systems.
Thomas earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was recognised as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and holds a B.A. in Philosophy from UCLA. His academic background, paired with years of transactional and venture experience, equips him with a sharp analytical lens and a thoughtful, client-first approach to legal strategy. Admitted to practise in New York and fluent in Mandarin, Thomas brings a global outlook to his work, advising clients across jurisdictions with both cultural fluency and commercial depth.
